Award for Excellence in Research

Nominations must be submitted to the Faculty’s Vice-Dean, Research, by email to vdre@uOttawa.ca on or before May 31.

The Faculty of Education Award for Excellence in Research was created in 2003 to recognize one professor for contributions to research in education.

The award will be granted every year from 2003 to 2006 and, then once every two years afterwards and will alternate with the Faculty of Education award for excellence in teaching, given that appropriate candidates are nominated according to the nomination procedure.

The Faculty of Education Award for Excellence in Research is $1,500 deposited in a research account under the name of the recipient. The award will be presented on the occasion of a lecture given by the recipient.

Award for Excellence in Teaching

The award has been granted every year from 2003 to 2006 and once every two years afterwards and will alternate with the award for Excellence in research, given that appropriate candidates are nominated according to the nomination procedure.

The Faculty of Education Award for Excellence in Teaching is $1,500 deposited in a research account under the name of the recipient. The award will be presented on the occasion of the Teaching Lecture given by the recipient.

New Researcher Award

The success of young researchers is crucial to our future.

The New Researcher Award, established in 2003, is presented annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to research as a faculty member.

The researcher must hold a full-time tenure-track position at the University. By the deadline date for nomination or application, the applicant or nominee should have completed no more than seven years in a tenure-track position, beginning as an assistant professor.

Furthermore, the applicant or nominee must have received his/her doctorate during the last 7 years. The professor must also have a strong record of teaching and services to the University.

The Young Researcher Award is 1,500 and is to be used by the recipient for his/her research endeavours.

Part-Time Professor Award for Excellence

Nominations must be submitted to the Faculty’s Vice-Dean, Research, by email to vdre@uOttawa.ca on or before May 31.

This annual recognition is awarded to two part-time professors of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ottawa; one francophone and one anglophone professor. The selection criteria are based on the candidates' excellence in teaching and their contribution to the student life.

Award for Thesis Supervision

Thesis supervisors devote a great deal of time and effort in order to supervise their students well. In recognition of this important work, the Faculty of Education has established in 2014 a prize for thesis supervision.

The aim is to recognise excellence in the guidance and supervision of graduate students.

The prize will be offered every three years and is open to all professors currently supervising students, including full time, emeritus, adjunct and honorary professors. Nominations must be made by a colleague, a current or former student of the professor.

Outstanding Alumni Award

The Faculty of Education’s Outstanding Alumni Award is presented annually in recognition of exceptional contributions of Faculty of Education alumni to enhancing the reputation of their former academic unit, the Faculty and the University through their outstanding career, public service, community service or academic achievements. The Faculty wishes to demonstrate its pride for Faculty alumni and provide inspiration to other alumni as well as current students.
