The time has come again. On April 1st, I am taking 4 teacher candidates to Kamengo, Uganda for a three-week international practicum experience. These four students have been working hard all year to plan programming for the vulnerable children and youth of the Agnes Zabali Boys & Girls Club. They will be teaching in St Anne’s school during the day and have activity stations planned for the children and youth in the evenings and weekends. They have worked very hard with fundraising over this past year and you will see them in LMX with cake and craft stalls over coming weeks. Thanks to all of you who have contributed in any way.
This call is to see if any of you have:
· laptops, i-pads, data projectors or smart phones you no longer have use for and would be willing to donate to AZBGC.
· age appropriate DVDs that your children have grown out of and would be appropriate for “film nights” at our AZBGC center.
· good used clothing, shoes and sports equipment if you are having a clean out at home!
Just email me if you have any items and I will come and pick them up.
The AZBGC is managed jointly by an Ottawa committee and a youth committee in Kamengo, Uganda. We raise funds to support school fees and resources for 155 vulnerable children and youth. We have a small number of youth who we have supported through university and who are now presenting us with propositions for sustainable small business projects.
Your assistance is much appreciated. I plan on offering this international practicum every year so please let me know if you have an interest in participating. We can always use another volunteer and the experience is very rewarding.
