Maker Mobile instructor

Do you want to inspire youth and the community at large? As an instructor for the MakerMobile (engineering.uottawa.ca/makermobile) you'll be able to work in a fun dynamic workplace, whose goal is to interest kids and the community at large to new modern rapid prototyping technologies which include 3D printing, laser cutting, the internet of things and more. Instructors will be designing hands on curriculum and will deliver interactive workshops in schools or community by driving our MakerMobile truck from location to location. Instructors might also travel across Ontario or Quebec in an effort to target small rural and Aboriginal communities who lack the necessary resources to promote rapid prototyping, engineering and the maker movement as a whole.
Responsabilities:
 Travels to schools, community centers or other locations to deliver the planned activities with the University vehicle (Maker Mobile truck or van).
 Develop new workshops and activities for new initiatives, tests and documents all projects.
 Ensures that the curriculum is aligned with provincial curriculum requirements.
 Participate in community events to promote engineering and technology and the University of Ottawa.
 Maintains equipment as required.
Requirements:
 Diploma in Engineering, Science, Education or related field, or a post-secondary student working toward such a diploma, or equivalent experience
 Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
 Experience teaching youth 
 Ability to communicate technical concepts in a non-technical manner 
 Ability to take on a multitude of different responsibilities when necessary
 Ability to think critically and solve problems efficiently
 Ability to multitask and stay organized
 Bilingualism: French and English (written and spoken)
 The position requires flexible working hours
 Ability to travel, participate at events that might be held outside regular working hours
 Valid driver license desirable (G)
