Cristelle Audet

Biography

Cristelle Audet’s teaching focuses on career development, ethics, and practica training in counselling. Past president of the Social Justice Chapter of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and involved with the CCPA’s Ethics Committee since 2010, she is interested in promoting counselling and psychotherapy practices informed by social justice values. She authored a chapter on social justice for the Handbook of Counselling and Psychotherapy in Canada, is co-editor of Social Justice and Counseling: Discourse in Practice (in press), and has written about barriers to wellbeing such as poverty and ageism. Cristelle’s research focuses on a social justice perspective in counselling and she conducts research that aims to forefront under-represented voices. She is also curious more generally about how clients experience and engage in psychotherapy. In particular, she has researched and written several articles on therapist disclosure and its influence on the therapeutic relationship from the client's perspective. Professor Audet tends to use qualitative research approaches that privilege the participant's voice in unveiling counselling practices that are culturally sensitive and just.
