The Faculty of Education International Symposiums Series brings together Faculty members and scholars from across the world to share emerging research on education and to explore innovations in educational theory and praxis.

Educational Development in the Age of ICT

Members of the Faculties of Education of the University of Ottawa and Central China Normal University (CCNU) came together for the online symposium ‘Educational Development in the Age of ICT,' held on November 6th, 2020. Professors from both institutions presented their work and discussed a number of current issues in education and online learning. Despite the difference in global time zones—a late Friday evening in Ottawa and an early Saturday morning in Wuhan—the virtual event was a resounding success with over 50 participants, compelling conversation and sharing of data-driven research. Our Faculty’s relationship with the CCNU is a highly valued international collaboration focused on the advancement of knowledge in educational research and practice.

Comparative Perspectives on Collaborative Research for Teacher Professional Development

Researchers from l’École normale supérieure de l’Université de Lyon and the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education gathered for a virtual symposium on the contribution of research to professional development programs for teachers. This event was hosted by Francis Bangou, Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa and Karine Bécu-Robinault, Senior Lecturer at the ENS de Lyon.

Enjeux des langages dans l’accueil des populations migrantes

Encore aujourd’hui, et malgré les avancées notables dans le domaine, l’accueil des populations migrantes demeure une question vive. Parmi les défis à relever, celui de la place accordée aux langues d’origine et aux savoirs déjà-là constitue un enjeu de taille. Ce symposium offre l’opportunité de croiser des regards franco-canadiens sur ce sujet, sur la façon dont il est appréhendé et discuté. Le groupe de recherche Éducation et langues (EducLang) de la Faculté d’éducation de l’Université d’Ottawa et le Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Didactique, Éducation et Formation (LIRDEF) de l’Université de Montpellier, vous convient à un symposium portant sur les enjeux des langages associés à l’accueil des populations migrantes.

The University of Ottawa's Faculty of Education (UO), together with the Catholic University of Central Africa's Faculty of Philosophy (UCAC), will host an international symposium on the social challenges of teaching. The event will be be co-hosted by Nathalie Bélanger, Full Professor in the uO Faculty of Education, and Siméon Essama, Vice-Dean, Teaching, in the UCAC Faculty of Philosophy.
