Congratulations to Amanda Cloutier, recipient of a 2021 Teaching Award in the Beginning Teacher category. This award is presented by OTIP (Ontario Teachers' Insurance Plan) and OTF (Ontario Teachers' Federation) to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding teaching processes in 2021.

A graduate of the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Education, she has distinguished herself through her innovative teaching methods and creations. In this award video, Amanda Cloutier explains the creation of her 2020 Timetable Generator which was an innovation that factored into her nomination. "I used some of my coding skills, just using a Google sheet and a Google form that were linked together and developed this timetable generator,’’ she said. She also instituted a book club in 2020 to diversify the teaching of French texts and was a popular initiative shared widely among Ontario teachers through social networks.

Amanda Cloutier is a French Second Language, Math, and Leadership teacher at Bramalea Secondary School in Brampton, ON. She completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Waterloo (2014), her Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University (2015), and her Master's of Arts in Education at the University of Ottawa (2018). Outside of teaching, she enjoys coaching cross country and track and field, and supporting student-led clubs that develop leadership skills.
