On June 12, our undergraduate and graduate students proudly joined the ranks of the Faculty of Education’s alumni. Convocation took place at the Shaw Centre on a pleasant, sunny late afternoon. Students and their loved ones were full of pride and joy during this moving celebration, which represented the conclusion of many years of hard work.
The ceremony began with the graduates receiving inspiring words of encouragement from University and Faculty leaders. Then, dressed in their gowns, they received their diplomas under the radiant gaze of their families, doctoral students first, followed by master’s and then bachelor’s students.
The ceremony featured other highlights as well. Firstly, two undergraduates, Jessica Gladu valedictorian for the Formation à l’enseignement program and Jessica Gladu valedictorian for Teacher Education program, respectively, were recognized for their excellent academic standing. Then, doctoral candidate Marie‑Ève Skelling Desmeules received the Governor General’s Gold Medal for the best thesis. Finally, Stanley Vollant, the first Indigenous surgeon in Quebec and an activist behalf of First Nations youth’s education and success, received an honorary doctorate.
Once again, congratulations to all our graduates. Best of luck as you join the workforce!
