At the University of Ottawa, he got involved organizing events for Faculty of Education students as a way to help create a more enriching student experience. Since 2013, he implemented the Bourse Millenium, an independent bursary given annually to a grade 12 student planning to study at the University of Ottawa. To raise funds for this bursary, Mutimbutimbu has organized several events, such as bake sales, variety shows and sales of different types of food from countries around the world.
