2020-2021 Faculty of Education Series of International Symposiums

Members of the Faculties of Education of the University of Ottawa and Central China Normal University (CCNU) came together for the online symposium ‘Educational Development in the Age of ICT', held on November 6th, 2020. Professors from both institutions presented their work and discussed a number of current issues in education and online learning. Despite the difference in global time zones—a late Friday evening in Ottawa and an early Saturday morning in Wuhan—the virtual event was a resounding success with over 50 participants, compelling conversation and sharing of data-driven research. Our Faculty’s relationship with the CCNU is a highly valued international collaboration focused on the advancement of knowledge in educational research and practice.

This symposium was held in English.

Presentations included the following topics:

► China’s Equitable Education Challenge: Constructing and Effective Path to Rural Teacher Education in Impoverished Areas

► Designing an Online Teacher Education Program for Remote Francophone Communities: A Maker Perspective

► The Effects of Teachers’ Application Level of Technology on Interaction Quality in University Smart Classrooms

► Digital Disciplinary Pedagogies and Faculty Development: Emerging Online Teaching Strategies Across Academic Disciplines in Higher Education
