Giving Tuesday, students walking on campus

Kwey! Wachiye! Hello! Bonjour!

The Faculty of Education’s Indigenous Solidarity Scholarship is meant to help a new generation of Indigenous change-makers contribute to their communities and to society at large by ensuring that higher education is accessible. Together, we’re working to create a more welcoming environment for Indigenous students, faculty, staff and community by integrating that traditional knowledge. This is an important step on the path to creating a more equitable and sustainable society.

Your donation to the Faculty of Education’s Indigenous Solidarity Scholarship this Giving Tuesday will provide Indigenous students with the opportunity to join our Faculty and enjoy an educational experience that respects their ancestral values. Double your impact with a 1:1 match for the first $50,000 raised, up to a maximum of $5,000 per person.

''It’s important for me to take the time to write this letter and offer my warmest thanks for the bursary I received. I’m a bachelor’s student in education, and this bursary has allowed me to concentrate on my studies and encouraged me to persevere despite the obstacles. So, being a single mother living far from my family and home community, I’ve been able to devote the necessary time to my studies. As well, this training in education will allow me in turn to make a difference for youth in my community, by giving back through teaching. I’ll add that during this pandemic, when things haven’t been easy, this bursary has allowed me to hold my head high and perform to the best of my abilities. It’s always nice to have the support of others as we move forward academically towards career fulfilment.''

A big thanks for this bursary, which has made a difference.

Kind regards,

Manouchka Otis, 2nd year student, Bachelor of Education
