Qikiqtani Region of Nunavut starting August 2017!

Teaching in Nunavut
The Nunavut Department of Education - Qikiqtani Region, is seeking applicants for
teaching positions to start August 2017. Term and indeterminate positions are available.
Nunavut teachers’ salaries are the second highest in Canada starting at $73,528 -
$115,291 + Nunavut Northern Allowance ($15,016 - $34,455). Schools in the
Qikiqtaaluk region of Nunavut includes: Sanikiluaq, Apex, Iqaluit, Kimmirut, Cape
Dorset, Qikiqtarjuaq, Pangnirtung, Igloolik, Hall Beach, Clyde River, Pond Inlet, Arctic
Bay, Resolute, and Grise Fiord. There are a number of full time, indeterminate and term
positions available in the following categories:
 Elementary Teacher (Primary Grades)
 Middle School Generalist teacher
 High School Generalist teacher
 Principal 
 Vice Principal (VP)
 Learning Coach
 Student Support Teacher (SST)

Required Qualifications
To be successful in this position you must be in good standing as a teacher within a
jurisdiction. All Canadian teacher certifications will be recognized for certification in

All applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
Applicants must submit a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Check
(VSC) that are dated no more than three months prior to the closing date of this
competition. Applicants will have to provide a valid, clear CRC and VSC before a final
offer can be made.

Applicants who have taken their teacher training outside of Nunavut must also include a copy of their current public school teaching certificate from a jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applicants who anticipate graduating with a B.Ed. must submit proof that they are enrolled in a teacher education program with a graduation date that precedes the start date of the assignment. Applications that do not include this documentation will not be considered.
