Since 2015, groups of second and foreign language (ESL/EFL) teachers from rural and remote areas of Western China have come to the Faculty of Education to complete a three-month professional development program. And this summer is no exception. Another group of teachers arrived at uOttawa on May 9, 2018.
With the help of program manager Gloria Romero and various faculty members, these teachers will have the opportunity to further develop their teaching practices and improve their English language skills, all while enjoying a taste of living in Ottawa. This initiative is one of four such projects around the world funded by the Chinese government and is made possible through the participation of the University’s Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute, the Ottawa Catholic School Board and the Kitigan Zibi First Nation community.
It’s a great pleasure to have these teachers here with us!
