The successful applicant must possess:
• A degree in Education with a specialty in Wood Working
• Demonstrated successful classroom and shop teaching experience at the secondary level
• Experience teaching math or social studies in grades 8-10
• A demonstrated successful ability to safely supervise students in a multi-task shop setting
• A demonstrated successful ability to work safely with tools, equipment and materials
• OFA Level 1 (First Aid)
• WHMIS training
• Red Seal certification is desirable
• A demonstrated successful ability to utilize Performance Standards and other rubrics to assess student achievement
• The ability to demonstrate effective use of differentiated teaching and assessment practices in multi-grade classes
• An exemplary work ethic with a proven ability to work as an effective team member
• A demonstrated successful ability in utilizing computer technology in the instructional process to enhance student learning
• A demonstrated successful ability to provide a learning environment where all aspects of a student’s development are enhanced and extended
• A demonstrated successful ability to adapt the teaching process to individual students
• A demonstrated successful ability to work co-operatively and collaboratively with teaching partners and colleagues at the school
• A commitment to using the process of Inquiry as a professional learning practice
