Adam Oliver Brown is an award winning science teacher and a professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Brown has academic interests in the scholarship of teaching and learning science, as well as science communication to non-specialist audiences. His scholarly research in science education relates to the development, implementation and measuring the effectiveness of learning scaffolds to improve meaningful learning, recall and application for students of science. Recent projects revolve around the use of etymological constructs to improve lexical access to scientific terminology, as well as the development of directed exemplification strategies as a means to enhance the conceptual, analytical and procedural science learning in the study of Animal Behaviour.
