Camp Kodiak Teacher Opportunities

Publié le mardi 4 juin 2019

We are a traditional overnight camp for kids and teens with and without Learning Disabilities, ADHD, and High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder. We seek to improve campers social, physical and academic well being. We are seeking energetic, hardworking individuals who are ready for a challenging and extremely rewarding summer opportunity!

Camp Kodiak provides 10 days of training where you will gain new knowledge, as well as learn to relate your existing skills to real life situations. Over the summer you will have the opportunity to put your education into practice allowing you to hone your practical skills in a specialized setting.

As a teacher or teacher candidate, you will have the opportunity to lead academic tutoring sessions with 8-10 students under the supervision our academic director who is a Special Education teacher since 2000 with the Peel District School Board. You will gain experience in: Classroom Management, Lesson Planning and Academic Reporting. As a head counsellor you will also gain valuable experience in parent interaction. Part of your role will be updating parents about their childs progress while at camp. Spend the rest of your time working and playing along side a growing yet underserved population within the school system.

We are nestled in beautiful McKellar, Ontario right in the heart of cottage country. The contract begins on the 21st of June and goes until the 18th of August. For the duration of the contract we provide room, board and a laundry service. We may have some flexibility with dates – please reach out if you would like to chat about these details.
